'Pretty Little Liars' Recap: "Over My Dead Body" (Mid Season Finale)

By the end of the Pretty Little Liars midseason finale, Garrett and Jenna revealed their connection to Alison's death, two couples seemed on the verge of breaking up and Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily were at

Rosewood P.D. (again!). But what was with those creepy dolls instructing the girls to complete a given task? Executive producer Marlene King weighs in on them and our other burning questions, and gives us a sneak peek at the show's special Halloween prequel episode and next season.I don’t think, in retrospect, that the reveal of Garrett and Jenna as Ali’s murderers was an earth-shattering, game-changing surprise in tonight’s Pretty Little Liars finale. As the arch nemesis of Season 2,

we’ve known that Garrett’s creepy alliance with Jenna and Jason put him on the bad side, so if the show was going to mark him as such, it’s about damn time we finally marked what makes him so dangerous. He’s a killer in sheep’s clothing—yet the fact

that Jenna had a hand in Ali’s death is a little more impressive, since I had her marked as a dormant girl who just liked to make people squirm. But it’s only fair that after everything those pretty girls put her through, she finally got the last laugh.

110811 Mnet Countdown HD Super Junior Comeback Stage - SuperMan

Super Junior are professionals at melting entire K-Pop communities to bubbling puddles of goo. They hold more power in the palm of their hands than most boy bands combined, and so it comes as no surprise that news of their comeback completely dominated the international K-Pop community.

Needless to say, the concept (as wacky as it may be) served its purpose – to grab all eyes and ears towards Super Junior like moths to a neon-colored flame.

With the release of ‘Mr. Simple‘, Super Junior’s fifth studio album, consider yourself jet-packing to the light and getting fried.

Their image was loud and eclectic, bold and bewildering. It left me wondering, how would this album actually sound? Is it as coo-coo bananas as what I’m looking at?

Manchester United v Manchester City Live!

The first signs of derby animosity showed after twenty minutes when Edin Dzeko and Anderson clashed over a tackle by the Bosnian forward, each earning a yellow card for their angry reactions.
Nani, Manchester United
Soon after, Micah Richards was lucky only to receive a yellow for a wayward lunge on debutant Ashley Young just outside the penalty area, and Wayne Rooney went close with the free-kick, curling just over the far post from a tight angle.

City finally created a chance on the half-hour mark, with a slick passing move. Yaya Toure surged forward to supply David Silva, who played a sumptuous through-pass for the advancing James Milner, who, under pressure from two defenders, had his shot deflected past the far post, but a goal kick was harshly given.

Another deflection later saved City’s blushes as Dzeko, part of a wall defending a direct free-kick, saw Nani’s shot bounce off his knee and fly inches past the post. Welcome to our Man United v Man City live coverage for the 2011 Community Shield. The Premier League is still one week away from kickoff, but that

Rick Perry Prayer Rally: Texas Governor Puts Potential 2012 Presidential Run In Spotlight

Though not yet a declared candidate, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is putting his faith under the national spotlight as a White House prospect with an important conservative constituency all to himself.

Perry on Saturday was addressing a prayer rally that he has spearheaded while weighing a campaign for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.

The governor has said the event is not political but rather aimed at rallying the nation to a Christian unity during difficult times. Still, he was reaching thousands of religious conservatives, many of whom vote in Republican primaries, especially in early voting states Iowa and South Carolina.

As the rally got under way, a few thousand evangelical Christians, most from Texas, were on the floor at Reliant Stadium. More than 8,000 had said they planned to come to the stadium, which seats 71,500 and was the site of the 2004 Super Bowl. Buses were still arriving at the stadium at midmorning.

Perry was scheduled to address the audience around midday. Thousands of values voters were following the event on the Internet and in more than 1,000 churches around the country.

"You didn't come here to listen to speeches," Luis Cataldo, a Kansas City, Mo., pastor, said in opening the event. "You came here to pray. Jesus wants to hear you. Jesus wants to hear your voice."

Perry was not expected to take questions from the scores of news media covering the event, aides said.

AC Milan beats Inter 2-1 to win Italian Super Cup

Inter led at halftime after Wesley Sneijder curled a free kick over the wall and the ball ricocheted in off the crossbar. The free kick came after a foul by combative Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso.

Milan's first goal came after Clarence Seedorf chested down a cross near the touch line, then knocked it back in for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to send a diving header into the net.

Ibrahimovic also hit the post with a header against his former club in the first half.

The equalizer was quickly followed by Milan forward Alexandre Pato running onto a through ball. His shot hit the post, but Kevin-Prince Boateng slid to knock in the rebound.

Boateng celebrated with a spinning kung fu kick that delighted the cheering crowds packed into the Olympic stadium. The venue has proved an unlucky one for Inter, which played in the same fixture at the same place two years ago and lost 2-1 to Lazio.

The victory moved Milan one Italian Super Cup clear of Inter and two in front of Juventus.

The Super Cup is the traditional curtain raiser for the Italian season, played between the previous season's Serie A winners (Milan) and Italian Cup victors (Inter).

Three of the next four Italian Super Cups will be played in China to help promote Italian football in Asia.

'Mr. Simple': Super Junior's last album before Leeteuk's military service

Philippines – Super Junior’s new and fifth album, “Mr. Simple,” will be the group’s last album before leader Leeteuk enlists in the military for his two-year mandatory service.
This was revealed during the boy band’s press conference on August 4 in Seoul in connection with the release of the album.

At 28, Leeteuk is ready for military service. Last year, he said that he might enlist in the end of 2011 or early 2012.
He will be the second member of Super Junior to enlist. Last year, Kangin entered the military.
With the military service looming, Leeteuk said that they will be embarking on a world tour, aiming to do concerts not just in Asia but in South America and the US.
In the last three years, Super Junior has held their Asia tour, visiting countries like the Philippines and China.
Today, Super Junior will hold their first TV performance of the title track “Mr. Simple” on KBS “Music Bank” and fans are eagerly awaiting their comeback after more than one year.
During the press conference, Leeteuk said they felt pressured because of the new album.
“Top of the K-pop! Leader of Global Korean Wave! Super Junior came back with fifth album ‘Mr. Simple’ in approximately 1 year and 2 months. We felt pressure while preparing the fifth album but I believe those pressures will change to expectations by receiving love from our fans,” he said.
Sungmin said he appreciates all the support from fans from different countries.
“We know that a lot of fans from various countries are cheering for us. We sincerely appreciate for all the support,” he said.
Eunhyuk  added, “I think we are making the comeback with great expectation from public so we are also very excited.”
Asked to describe “Mr. Simple”, Leeteuk said the song “expresses the best strength of Super Junior. Some people say that the song is similar to 'SORRY, SORRY' or 'BONAMANA' but if you listen to entire song, you will realize the difference and unique concept of 'Mr. Simple'.”
The album contains 13 songs and Yesung said his favorite is “Memories” “because all members participated for this song.”
On the other hand, Donghae, who wrote “Y”, admitted that the lyrics were “about the love story which I personally experienced.”
Overall, Heechul described the new album as “very charming, like the good looks of our members.”
In the end, Super Junior thanked the fans for eagerly awaiting the release of “Mr. Simple”.
“We would like to thank all the people who waited for our album. There is a saying in Asia, 'running horse never stops its horseshoe.' Like the saying, we will never stop performing! We will present our stages for 24 hours, 365 days a year! We'll do our best for the 5th album!”

Virginia Tech On Lockdown After Report Of Gunman

Virginia Tech was in lockdown Thursday morning after three juveniles reported seeing a man on campus believed to be holding a handgun.

A campus alert reported a man "holding what may have been a handgun" outside New Residence Hall East, yet police authorities and the Associated Press reported the man was seen outside of the Dietrick Hall dining center on the Blacksburg, Va. campus. The bulletin indicated the weapon may have been covered by clothing.

"Officers responded immediately to the area but found no one matching the description," the school's bulletin said. Twitter feeds of individuals on campus said they had been asked to remain indoors.

The college, officially known as Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, locked down the campus and ordered students to stay inside after three teenagers participating in a camp there reported they spotted a possible gunman, said Mike Campbell, a spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington, D.C. field division.

The bulletin revived memories of the April 2007 massacre on the campus, when Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old Virginia Tech student, shot to death 32 fellow classmates and teachers before killing himself.

Mr. Campbell said agents had been placed on standby to assist but had not been dispatched yet because local authorities had not found anyone matching the description.

Dennette Rybiski, spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation out of Richmond said that the FBI was assisting and had been talking to local authorities. She said if agents weren't on campus yet, "they are en route."

Sony PlayStation Vita handheld will miss Christmas in US and Europe

How can this be? Sony's new handheld console already passed through the FCC and was even leaked on a UK Blockbuster flyer that stated an October release date. Yet apparently these clues count for nothing, because Bloomberg reports Kazuo Hirai as saying that the Vita won't launch in the US and Europe until early next year -- with only Japan getting the device before Christmas. Why would Sony be content to miss out on all that festive trade? We have absolutely no idea, but it looks like we'll have to email Santa a revised wish list.

Marg Helgenberger Leaving 'CSI' in January

Marg Helgenberger’s Catherine Willows is following in Laurence Fishburne’s footsteps and signing off CSI.

After more than 250 episodes of the series, original cast member Helgenberger opted to return for Season 11 only after executive producer Carol Mendelsohn approached her last season and asked her to remain on so the writers could properly script her exit.

Marg Helgenberger
“The combination of that info and me having a hard time letting go of this show and this group of people, I said, ‘Yeah, I'm not done playing this character; I’m not done letting go of this group of people,” the actress told The Hollywood Reporter at TCA Wednesday.

“Marg will be around through January, so Episode 12,” Mendelsohn said. “People come and go and come back, so hopefully when we say goodbye, that won’t be the last time we see her.”

Ted Danson's character, CSI supervisor DB Russell (who replaced Fishburne), will affect Willows' role within the team.

"Ted’s character is pretty endearing and he has a way of looking at a crime scene that’s a fresh perspective and it gets under everybody’s skin – in a good way,” she says, noting that the crew took some “liberties” with the way the crime last season was solved. Willows, ultimately, is a team player and may directly be impacted in the fallout.

advertisement Home : Entertainment : Celebrity : Franco accidentally ripped off piece of thumb on camera

Actor JAMES FRANCO accidentally ripped off a piece of his thumb while filming new biopic THE BROKEN TOWER in a remote town in Mexico.

The star was shooting the low-budget film - about tragic American poet Hart Crane - last year (10), when he injured himself with a set piece while the cameras were still rolling.

But Franco, who directs and stars in the movie, was forced to conceal his pain because the production team only had one chance to capture the scene.

He says, "It was this part right before his suicide where he thinks he's lost his talent and he's destroying his typewriter and he's supposed to throw it down a few times and then stomp on it. So I said, 'Action,' ran in, picked up the typewriter and threw it. Picked it up, threw it again. And by that time it was mangled, so when I threw it down the third time, it took part of my thumb with it.

"But I was the director, and I knew we only had one typewriter, (and we were filming) out in the middle of nowhere. And I knew I had to stomp it after that, so I... just kind of held my thumb. We finally got the shot and I said, 'Cut.' And it's bleeding all over."

Unfortunately for Franco, he was stationed too far from a major city with proper health care.

He adds, "The local production team took me to not a clinic, but, like, an ambulance garage. We went in and, for some reason, there was a TV on, playing a horror movie at full volume. So it was just screams. And I'm just trying not to pass out... And so the guy went in and woke the surgeon up... And then he (the surgeon) starts arguing with his assistant about which tool to use...

"My producer, at that point, said, 'No, we're going to find another place.' So they put some gauze on my hand until we got back to Vera Cruz. I met a doctor that said he would just zap it with a laser for free. So I said, 'That's great thanks, thank you very much. It's a low-budget movie.' And he fixed it!"

Barack Obama enjoys 50th birthday with burgers and banter

Barack Obama hasn't had much to cheer him up in the run-up to his 50th birthday – although he must wish his US poll ratings, currently 43% approval, outscored his years.

But the president – who in recent weeks was battered by the debt standoff that ended with a deal no one liked – seems determined to enjoy the milestone.

On Wednesday, he took aides to have burgers at an eatery on Capitol Hill before leaving Washington briefly for a campaign fundraiser in his adopted home town of Chicago. Supporters paid up to $38,500 to join him to hear him joke he would soon have a reminder from a national organisation that helps the over-50s have "independence, choice and control" in ways that "are affordable to them and society as a whole".

RIP Bubba Smith aka Moses Hightower in ‘Police Academy’

Film Ireland has learned of the sad passing of Bubba Smith the 6ft 7 inch former American Football player who played Moses Hightower in the long-running franchise Police Academy.

Bubba Smith spent 9 seasons in the NFL before moving onto a career in acting, he also appeared in Married with Children and the super police chopper TV series Blue Thunder.

Police Academy may be a textbook example of the law of diminishing returns when applied to movie sequels. Its witty, adult humoured debut still stands up well against its dire sequels, but it was a fondly remembered part of growing up in the late 80′s early 90′s. I recall renting out a VCR machine with cousins and watching Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol in the late 80′s and I also went to Police Academy 5: Assignment: Miami Beach and Police Academy 6: City Under Siege in the old Gaiety Cinema in Sligo.

Although Moses Hightower couldn’t compete with Larvell Jones(Michael Winslow) and his ability to mimic loudspeakers, sirens and guns in the affections of a pre teen/young teenager, delightlfully he always seemed to pick his moment to pop up quietly behind an incompetant criminal before rendering them unconscious.

So as a tribute to Bubba Smith what are your favourite Moses Hightower and/or Police Academy moments?

About (Late) Last Night: Marisa Miller paddles with Conan [Video]

Victoria's Secret model Marisa Miller paid a visit to "Conan" last night and -- would you believe it? -- host Conan O'Brien seemed pretty happy about it. When they're around beautiful women, every late-night host has his own patented shtick: Jay Leno asks lots of uncomfortable personal questions, David Letterman showers them with compliments and O'Brien acts like a short-circuiting robot; you half expect his head to spin around and springs to shoot out of his ears.

And so it was Monday night when Miller, decked out in a black miniskirt and hot pink stilettos, took a seat next to O'Brien. "You look extremely sexy," he said, punctuating his sentence with nasal laughter. Miller came with a purpose, of course: promoting her new line of stand-up paddle boards. (Well, that's a new one.)

The plan was for Miller to give O'Brien a paddling lesson and "tap into your inner surfer boy. ... I'm gonna find it."

"Look hard," O'Brien joked.

During the demonstration (in front of a green-screen projection of beautiful turquoise water) Miller took a hands-on approach, adjusting the placement of O'Briens legs and hips.

"Need more help," he demanded.

In the end, Miller gave O'Brien a positive assessment. "You're a natural. ... You have a good center of gravity and your abs are really hard," she said, smacking his torso.

"You know what's really hard? That right there!" O'Brien said, pointing to his butt, and Miller complied with a few quick spanks.

The things a girl has to do to sell a few paddle boards these days...

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Returns to Her Vote House Floor As Debt Bill Passes VIDEO

Here is video of the U.S. House of Representatives passing the Debt Limit Agreement today by a 269-161 margin. As the final votes were being cast, spontaneous applause began to echo through the House Chamber as members realized Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords had entered to cast her vote. Giffords was casting her first vote on the floor since being shot by an assailant in January. The Debt Limit Agreement now moves to the U.S. Senate for a vote tomorrow, August 2, 2011, at 12 Noon ET.
