Arsenal eased past Wigan thanks to a great all round performance from the Gunners that saw Mikel Arteta, Thomas Vermaelen, Gervinho and Robin Van Persie score in a DW Stadium thrashing. This fixture has a tendency to do funny things to goalkeepers. Two seasons ago it was Arsenals Lukasz Fabianski whose 90th-minute blunder stripped Arsenal of resurrected title chances, and Arsène Wenger of his suit jacket. This time it was Wigan's Ali Al-Habsi with the error-strewn display.Arsenal eased past Wigan Athletic as they get all three points and continue their unbeaten run, in the English Premier League.

In a way, we expected it to be easy considering the position in the table Wigan occupy but at the same time it was maybe easier than anyone would have expected before the game.

Make no mistake, in the initial part of the game I was a little bit concerned with what was going on back there in the defensive department, especially on the wings as both Laurent Koscielny and Andre Santos made mistakes that other teams would have maybe punished us for but after we settled down it was smooth sailing as we registered our eight win in the Premier League and move up to 5th in the table.
Incidentally, I cannot remember the last time we scored two goals in the first half of a game so this win not only allows us to continue our unbeaten run in the domestic league but it will surely inject more confidence in our players.
Vanessa Long, the wife of beleaguered megachurch pastor Bishop Eddie Long, has filed for divorce, it was announced Friday.
"After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long. Accordingly, I authorized my attorneys to file for divorce on December 1, 2011," Vanessa Long said in a statementLast fall, four young men accused Eddie Long, senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, of coercing them into having sex. Their lawsuits were settled in May, then dismissed.
Also in Vanessa Long's statement: "It is my sincere hope that this matter can be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously, and fairly. I ask that you respect my privacy and that of my family, as my attorneys and I have agreed that we will not try this case in the media, and I do not intend to make any further statements concerning this matter."
Long married Vanessa Griffin in 1990. They have three children together Edward, Jared and Taylor.
The lawsuit dismissals, first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, prevent the four defendants from suing Long again for the same alleged offense.
The accusations made against Long by Anthony Flagg, Spencer LeGrande, Jamal Parris and Maurice Robinson alleged that the bishop used his influence, trips, gifts and jobs to coerce them into sexual relations.
Long denied the men's allegations through a spokesman shortly after they first became public in September and told his congregation he planned to "vigorously" fight them.

Argentina Vs Colombia 2-1 [2014 FIFA World Cup South America] 15/11/2011 Colombia 1-2 Argentina All Goals Highlights World ...Argentina came from behind thanks to goals from Leo Messi and Sergio Aguero to claim a much needed win in Colombia.A second-half comeback from Argentina that featured goals from Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero earned the side a narrow 2-1 victory over Colombia on Tuesday.
Messi levelled the game after Dorlan Pabon had opened the scoring just before halftime, before his attacking verve led to Aguero turning in a rebound from close range.
The win, however, fails to clear the doubts circling around Alejandro Sabella's charges, who until the equalizer struggled greatly against their rivals who were missing Radamel Falcao and Fredy Guarin amongst other first-teamers.
Germany defeated Holland 3-0 on Tuesday in a friendly involving two of the favourites for next year's European Championship finals.
The 2010 World Cup runners-up were sunk by goals from Thomas Müller, Miroslav Klose and Mesut Ozil in front of a sellout crowd of 51,500 in Hamburg.
Müller put Germany, who finished third at the World Cup, in front after a lightning-fast attack in the 15th minute.
Toni Kroos sent in a high cross to Klose and he tapped the ball for Müller to beat the goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg with a shot into the corner.
Klose claimed his 63rd international goal 11 minutes later, latching on to a centre from Ozil to head home powerfully. The striker is now five goals short of Gerd Müller's record tally of 68 for Germany.Germany sealed the first victory since 1996 against the Netherlands attributed to a faultless performance by the German team against lax Dutchmen in front of home crowd in Hamburg on Tuesday.
Germany staged from the start offensively minded soccer whereas the Netherlands seemed idealess throughout the match. With only 14 minutes into the match, Germany opened the scoring after a terrific combination when striker Thomas Mueller finished the assist from Miroslav Klose.
The "Elftal" was shocked by the early deficit so that Germany were able to double the lead only ten minutes later when top striker Klose headed home a cross to mark his 63rd goal at 113 international caps.
An early goal from Sebastián Fernández gave the Copa América champions Uruguay a 1-0 win over the Euro 2012 finalists Italy in a friendly in Rome on Tuesday.
The Malaga forward steered home his second international goal in the third minute to inflict a third defeat on the Italy coach, Cesare Prandelli, since taking charge after the 2010 World Cup.
The home team's best chances fell to Pablo Osvaldo and Mario Balotelli in a dominant spell before half‑time but the new attacking duo could not find a way past Fernando Muslera on the goalkeeper's return to Rome.
Spain's poor form in friendlies continued when the world and European champions needed a stoppage-time David Villa goal to snatch a 2-2 draw at lowly Costa Rica.
After losing 1-0 to England on Saturday, the Spanish looked toothless in attack and vulnerable in defence in the first half of a rain-lashed match in San José, falling two goals behind at the break before raising their game in the second.
The captain, Iker Casillas, committed an uncharacteristic howler to gift the home side the lead on the day the 30-year-old set a new appearances record for the national team of 127.
The Real Madrid goalkeeper miscontrolled the ball near the edge of the penalty area just after the half-hour, surrendering possession to Randall Brenes and allowing the Costa Rica forward space to lift the ball into the empty net.Spain's poor form in friendlies continued when the world and European champions needed a stoppage-time David Villa goal to snatch a 2-2 draw at lowly Costa Rica on Tuesday.

Police cleared New York’s Zuccotti Park early Tuesday so that sanitation crews could clean the site Occupy Wall Street protesters have inhabited for two months, while in Berkeley, Calif., activists planned another attempt at setting up a new camp.
At about 1 a.m. Tuesday, New York City police handed out notices from the owner of Zuccotti Park, Brookfield Office Properties, and the city saying that the park had to be cleared because it had become unsanitary and hazardous. Protesters were told they could return in several hours, but without sleeping bags, tarps or tents.Hundreds of New York City police officers began clearing Zuccotti Park of the Occupy Wall Street protesters early Tuesday, telling the people there that the nearly two-month-old camp would be “cleared and restored” before the morning and that any demonstrator who did not leave would be arrested. Occupy Wall Street protesters have been ordered to leave Zuccotti Park, their longtime encampment in Lower Manhattan but they've been told they can return once it has been cleaned.

De Santis, Timberlake wrote, “seemed like she was nervous about the whole evening and if I was going to enjoy myself. ‘Are you ok?’ she asked 2 or 3 times. ‘I hope you are having fun. At the exact same spot Cain Velasquez won the most important bout of his Ultimate Fighting Championship career, he’s defending his heavyweight title in what UFC president Dana White is calling the biggest match in company history.Velasquez,
back in action for the first time since beating Brock Lesnar last October at UFC 121 to become heavyweight champion, puts his belt on the line against Junior dos Santos in the main event of UFC on Fox, live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Despite all the hype surrounding the company’s long-awaited debut on network television, however, Velasquez says he’s focused on only one thing – beating No. 1 contender dos Santos “From both of us, we have exciting fighting styles. We don’t go out there and put on boring fights. We’re both going to go forward,” said Velasquez this week in Anaheim, where he makes a comeback from shoulder surgery that has sidelined him since the Lesnar contest.
“That’s what fans are going to see. That’s what people who haven’t seen this before are going to see on Saturday.”
Dos Santos (13-1), who has been waiting more than a year for a shot at the title, says he isn’t putting any extra burden on himself, despite the magnitude of the evening.
“I feel really excited, but no pressure. It’s the same pressure I felt in my last fight. This is huge for me and I want to enjoy it and I will,” said dos Santos.
“Cain has amazing stamina. I think in this case, Cain Velasquez is the No. 1 heavyweight now. I want to change this on Saturday. It’s going to be a great fight and a war. I think a lot of people are going to be rooting for him on Saturday night, but I know I’ll have a lot of people rooting for me around the world. I’ll use that energy on Saturday night
“I will give my best to make this belt a Brazilian belt. I’m ready to go five rounds, but I think this fight finishes before.”
White, who along with brother Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta purchased UFC in 2001 for a mere $2 million and has built it into a combat-sports empire worth more than $1 billion according to several estimates, makes no secret of how big the card is for the company.
“This is without a doubt the biggest fight in UFC history. This thing started as a small fringe sport and has grown to what it is today. This Saturday night as we step out onto Fox, millions of people will see UFC who’ve never watched before,” said White.
“As we take this step forward into what we call ‘mainstream,’ we were much more fortunate in that we were able to hand pick a fight that we wanted to put on Fox. If I had to do it all over again, this is still the fight I’d pick to put on network television.”
an 8-1 favorite heading into tonight's fight against Juan Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS — It began when Bugsy Siegel dumped his first dice table on the Nevada sand dunes. They gift-wrapped the pleasure palaces that followed until they looked as though Caligula had decorated them in Early Decadence, opened the doors and challenged:
"Beat us if you can."
You may have noticed that the casinos are still standing.
Somewhere in that there is a message.
For those pilgrims inclined toward numerology, it beams down at them from the front wall of the MGM Grand Casino. Manny Pacquiao is a staggering 8-1 favorite to beat Juan Manuel Marquez when they fight here tonight. The House is rarely wrong.
But just as sure as God made little green apples and it don't rain in Vegas in the summertime, those odds will fall a little when the most naïve among the congregation rush forward today to make a killing on the House's "mistake."
After all, this is a city where dreams and hope and faith are the opiate of the tourists. These particular fight odds should be posted with an asterisk that leads to a fine print message below that reads:
"When we say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, we mean your money."
Be aware that this town has seen them all — every card counter ... every system player ... every roulette wheel note-taker and every oddball slot junkie — who thinks he can outthink a machine that is programmed to take in more money than all of the French Riviera spends on bikinis before it spits out a single quarter.
Still, the House does occasionally lose, although in boxing it hasn't happened here with staggering odds since Mike Tyson, a 20-1 favorite, lost his first fight against Evander Holyfield in this same building 15 years ago.
The question, therefore, is what does Juan Manuel Marquez have to do to win this fight as the long shot among all recent long shots? It's still a fight and it could happen. After all, even Muhammad Ali was indeed a 7-1 long shot when he beat Sonny Liston the first time.
Well, Marquez and his trainer, Nacho Beristain, believe they have the answer. As a result, tonight we will learn whether bigger is better, tougher, meaner or just plain slower. Marquez, a natural lightweight, has bulked up to come in around 142 pounds. You can see it in his chest. You can see it in his biceps.

Final score:- Ukraine vs Germany 3-3 ( Yarmolenko, Konoplyanka, Nazarenko/ Kroos, Rolfes, Muller)
Kiev, Ukraine- 11 November, 2011- Friendly
Ukraine squander a 3-1 advantage as Germany fight back to draw 3-3 against the European Championship co-hosts in the capital city of Kiev.Germany came from two goals behind to draw 3-3 with Ukraine in a friendly on Friday in the first game in the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, which will host the final of next year's European Championship.
Germany dominated despite missing a number of its top players, but Ukraine was dangerous on the break, and was roared on by the 70,000 crowd.
Ukraine took the lead in the 28th minute through Andriy Yarmolenko, and Yevhen Konoplianka added a second in the 36th after sprinting about 50 yards (45 meters) .
Toni Kroos fired in from distance for Germany's first in the 39th minute. But Ukraine restored its two-goal lead just before halftime, when Serhiy Nazarenko curled in a similar long-range shot.
Germany started its comeback in the 65th when Simon Rolfes blasted in from a corner, and the equalizer came in the 77th through Thomas Mueller's 20-yard shot.
Germany rallied from a 3-1 first half deficit to draw even with Ukraine, 3-3 on Friday night. The Germans made a series of costly mistakes in the first half, and allowed the Ukrainians to three goals despite dominating the flow of the match. In the second half, the Germans seemed to cool their heads defensively, cutting off the Ukrainian's options on offense while springing lethal counter attacks.

Hip-hop duo Calle 13 won album of the year at the Latin Grammy Awards Thursday in Las Vegas, earning the top prize after a record-breaking night that saw the Puerto Rican brothers receive the 19th award of their career.LAS VEGAS (AP) — Hip-hop duo Calle 13 won album of the year at the Latin Grammy Awards Thursday in Las Vegas, earning the top prize after a record-breaking night that saw the Puerto Rican brothers receive the 19th award of their career.
Earlier in the night, the socially charged rap group made history and won its 18th award — song of the year for "Latinoamerica." That broke the record for most awards previously held by 17-time-winner Juanes.
"Today, the music triumphed," frontman René Pérez Joglar said in Spanish. When Rene Pérez of the group Calle 13 rapped the opening number at the Latin Grammys, he had a semi-surprise guest from L.A. with him.
Right next to Pérez, on stage at the Mandalay Bay Hotel theater in Las Vegas, was none other than Gustavo Dudamel, music director and principal conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and budding multimedia celebrity, conducting the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, the orchestra that Dudamel apprenticed with as a youth. It's Dudamel's biggest television audience since he guested on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno earlier this year.Calle 13, a Puerto Rican hip-hop group with pan-American music, rebellious politics and a raunchy sense of humor, triumphed at the 12th annual Latin Grammy Awards, which were televised Thursday from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. “Entren Los Que Quieran” (“Everybody Is Welcome”), the fourth Calle 13 album, was nominated for 10 awards this year, a record for the Latin Grammys. It helped that Calle 13’s eclecticism qualified its songs for multiple categories —Urban, Alternative, Tropical.
Herman Cain escaped serious damage in a presidential debate on Wednesday when Republican rivals held their fire over sexual harassment allegations that threaten to derail his 2012 White House bid.
Cain, a former pizza executive who leads some polls in the race, faced only one question about the accusations by four women dating to the late 1990s. Main rival Mitt Romney refused to wade into the controversy.
"The American people deserve better than someone being tried in the court of public opinion based on unfounded accusations," Cain said in the debate at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
Cain has denied the harassment charges and noted the issue had not dented voter enthusiasm for his campaign to face President Barack Obama, a Democrat, in the November 2012 election.
"They don't care about character assassination, they care about leadership and getting the country going," he said to cheers from the audience.Mitt Romney insisted Wednesday that he’s been consistent in his position on the auto bailouts, calling it a mistake for the federal government to have intervened to save GM and Chrysler.
Moderator John Harwood raised the subject, asking Romney to address the impression that he’d been “on all sides of the issue.”

Romney began by pointing to his upbringing in Michigan, saying that he “was here in the 1950s and 1960s when Detroit and Michigan was the pride of the nation.” Wednesday night's CNBC presidential debate may well have given us the most memorable moment of any debate in quite a long time - Rick Perry's potentially-calamitous inability to name the third federal agency he is vowing to abolish. It was like watching a car crash live on television. The game-changing moment has ramifications for all the presidential contenders, but it wasn't the only takeaway from Wednesday night. Below, our take on who's up and whose down in the wake of the debate:
But at the CMA Awards on Wednesday (Nov. 9), he just may have outdone on his "Idol" predecessor in the live-performance department
Before the 45th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards came to and end, Taylor Swift was invited to the stage of the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee to collect Entertainer of the Year. This victory saved her from walking home empty handed after she was repeatedly blocked from zwinning 2011 Country Music Awards earlier that night.
Underwood and Brad Paisley, in addition to hosting the awards, also performed their hit song "Remind Me" -- and we have to say, it wasn't Underwood's finest moment. She struggled a little bit with some of the higher notes and generally wasn't the super-polished performer we now expect her to be.
Granted, she had a lot on her plate Wednesday, and we can probably chalk it up to being a little bobble in a hectic night. But her part of "Remind Me" sounded just a little off.
McCreery took the stage a short time later to perform "Walk in the Country" from his debut album "Clear As Day." It's not a super-challenging vocal, but he handled the big stage -- in front of what are no doubt some of his musical idols -- pretty well.Lionel Richie singing "Dancing on the Ceiling" with the Rascal Flatts gang, whose guitarists made it rock like they'd been raised on Bachman-Turner Overdrive, was nothing fans of any type of music should be made to sit through.
And Darius Rucker oversinging "Stuck On You" in that same medley by the night's least-country entertainer wasn't any better.
But every award show has its less-than-stellar moments.Country music’s big night is here with the 45th CMA Awards.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood co-host the ceremony, which kicks off at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
Among the scheduled live performers are Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Taylor Swift.
The nominees for Entertainer of the Year are Swift, Urban, Paisley, Shelton and Jason Aldean Before the 45th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards came to and end, Taylor Swift was invited to the stage of the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee to collect Entertainer of the Year. This victory saved her from walking home empty handed after she was repeatedly blocked from winning 2011 Country Music Awards earlier that night.
A crowd of hundreds of students who gathered on the front lawn of embattled Penn State football coach Joe Paterno's home swelled to nearly 1,500 and confronted riot-gear-clad police on campus and along Beaver Avenue Tuesday night.
The students shouted, "We are Penn State!" and "Joe Paterno!" "Hell no Joe won't go!" and a few calls of "Fire Spanier!" outside Old Main shortly after 10 p.m., then along Beaver Avenue. About 20 officers marched down the street to get the students to move back to the sidewalks around 11 p.m. The crowd then returned to Old Main, the university administration building, and continued to swell in size.
Campus police and Pennsylvania state troopers were on scene. There were no arrests as of late Tuesday night, and the crowd was dissipating by midnight.Stefano DiPietro first heard about the rally on Facebook around 2 p.m. Fellow Penn State students were heading to Joe Paterno's house at dusk to show support for the coach when he returned from practice.Amos Alonzo Stagg’s name being attached to the Big Ten football championship trophy may have to be reevaluated if Joe Paterno is found to be “complicit” in the Jerry Sandusky scandal according to Stagg's great grandson.
The hardware for the first Big Ten championship game next month -- the Stagg-Paterno Championship Trophy – has yet to be presented. But Robert Stagg told CBSSports.com on Tuesday that he is concerned about the family’s association if “more disturbing evidence,” is found in the case that has captured national headlines.
“If he [Paterno] has been complicit in this, he’s got to step down,” said Stagg, a 54-year-old father working in sales in Grand Rapids, Mich. “Unfortunately that would be the case.”
It was as if Heavy D knew that it would be his last tweet.
The self-proclaimed "overweight lover" of hip hop, who became one of rap's top hitmakers with his charming combination of humour and positivity, enthusiastically told his Twitter followers Tuesday morning to "BE INSPIRED!"
He later collapsed outside his home following a shopping trip, unable to breathe, before he was transported to a nearby hospital.
Heavy D died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to Lieutenant Mark Rosen of the Beverly Hills police. He was 44. Rosen said detectives found no signs of foul play and believe his death was medically related.
If true, Heavy D would of course not have known that "BE INSPIRED!" would be his last tweet but that it was is fitting for the life that Heavy D lived. Hip hop artist Heavy D died today (November 8th) at the far too young age of 44. The "Now That We Found Love" singer was best known for his work in the R&B scene, but the Jamaican-born Heavy D was a known quantity on the screen as well. Indeed, his work as an actor can be seen as recently as "Tower Heist," the Brett Ratner-directed and Eddie Murphy-starring comedy currently playing in theaters.
In honor of Heavy D, take a look back at some of the artist's most memorable turns on the big screen.
Drivers and passengers were burned alive in a pile-up on the M5 that threatens to become the worst motorway accident in British history. The official number of dead following multiple collisions on the M5 near Bridgwater in Somerset had reached seven on Saturday night, with 51 injured, but Anthony Bangham, assistant chief constable of Avon and Somerset police, said the number killed would rise as officers searched wrecked and burnt-out vehicles.
Some of the dead remained trapped in their charred vehicles. Bangham said many of the lorries and cars smashed on the northbound carriageway were "burned literally to the ground".
Eyewitnesses reported how the crash triggered a massive fireball that could be seen miles away. One said: "People were trapped in their vehicles. I heard people screaming and children crying. There was also fuel which had spilled on to the road surface which was exploding."
Those involved claim the pile-up was triggered shortly after an Iceland truck vanished in the fog. Ciara Neno, from Weston-super-Mare, said: "A black fog came down and the Iceland truck literally disappeared. We managed to brake and miss the lorry but it was too late, the carnage had already started. All we heard was thump, thump, thump. My husband dragged people from the cars, the smell was horrendous and there were a number of explosions. We walked away but other people weren't so lucky."
The tragedy is likely to renew the debate about motorway safety. It comes just weeks after the government announced plans to raise the speed limit to 80mph. Thirty-four vehicles were involved in the accident, which happened at 8.25pm on Friday.
"I could see the flames from quite a way back," said Simon Bruford, 38, from Williton in Somerset, who was driving south at the time of the collision. "I spent 18 years in the Somerset fire service and have seen a lot of nasty things, but that was horrific."
The vicar at St Mary Magdalene church in Taunton said the town was in shock. The Rev Rod Corke added: "My heart goes out to those who have suffered as a result of this tragedy."
In 1993, 12 children and their teacher died when their minibus smashed into the back of another vehicle on the M40 in Warwickshire. Two other motorway accidents, in 1984 and 1985, each claimed 13 lives. But experts said Friday's tragedy was more comparable with a multi-vehicle collision on the M4 near Hungerford, Berkshire, in 1991, when 10 people died and 25 were injured in a 51-vehicle smash.
The stretch of the M5 where the latest tragedy occurred is not considered a traffic blackspot. Ppolice were investigating the possibility that thick, patchy fog had rapidly descended on the motorway, dramatically cutting visibility.
Weather forecasters said conditions had been misty in the area of the incident and any bonfires burning nearby could have made things worse.
"The particles bonfires release encourage fog droplets to form," said Gareth Harvey, a forecaster at MeteoGroup. "By 9pm there were weather stations in the county reporting visibility down to 100 metres. The roads would also have been wet due to an earlier deluge."
The scene was close to Bridgwater's Guy Fawkes carnival and it has been suggested that smoke from the event could have combined with the fog to reduce visibility. A nearby smallholding also had a large bonfire which was seen to be giving off smoke.
Bangham pledged a comprehensive and thorough investigation into what caused the tragedy. "Other factors come into play in the evening and we need to take a close look to see if they caused some kind of distraction," he said. He confirmed police would be talking to the organisers of the carnival as part of the inquiry.
Coalition ministers are to launch a consultation later this year with a view to introducing an 80mph limit on motorways in 2013.
But the Liberal Democrat MP for Taunton Deane, Jeremy Browne, said the accident should be not be used to shape the debate about motorway speed limits. "People talk about speed limits, 70mph or 80mph, but the crucial thing is to make a judgment about what is the safe speed limit for the conditions you find yourself in," Browne said.
"I was in Taunton last night and it was a pretty wet, dank and misty night. Visibility can be bad on that stretch of low-lying road but it is a pretty unremarkable stretch of motorway."
A huge contingent of police, fire and ambulance crews was called to the affected stretch of motorway, which was closed in both directions.
"It was a highly complex, very traumatic incident for our services and officers," Bangham said. When asked whether there were still further dead bodies at the crash scene, Bangham said: "Yes, I'm afraid there are. For a motorway incident this is just about as big as it gets."
Albert Pujols, Reggie Jackson and Babe Ruth. After tonight, those are the only three human beings to hit three home runs in a single World Series game. Pujols finished the game with 5 hits in 6 at bats, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. The Cardinals won 16-7 behind Pujols ridiculous power surge. His playoff performance before tonight? 2 HR and 10 RBI. I guess you could say he’s still got it. Oh, and
the Cards now lead the World Series 2-1.During tonight’s World Series Game 3 (a 16-7 St. Louis victory), Albert Pujols joined those other two guys — whoever they are right? — in hitting 3 home runs in one World Series game (and also tied Paul Molitor with 5 hits in one World Series game). As much as it pains me to say it… congratulations — they were all hammered a country mile — not a cheap one in the bunch.Reporting from Arlington, Texas -- The World Series did more than simply change venues when it moved from frigid St. Louis to the heat of Texas for Game 3. It changed in character as well.
Because after splitting two pitchers' duels in Busch Stadium, the teams traded powerful body blows Saturday, and Albert Pujols landed the most devastating punches of all, homering three times in a 4-hour 4-minute slugfest won by the Cardinals, 16-7.
Real Madrid routed Malaga 4-0 in their La Liga clash at La Rosaleda on Saturday evening as a first half blitz effectively ended the contest despite the home side's impressive second half performance.
Cristiano Ronaldo netted a hat-trick while Gonzalo Higuain was also on the scoresheet as the capital giants blew their hosts away with a blistering opening 45 minutes. Both sides had early shouts for penalties for fouls on first Ronaldo and then Malaga's Joaquin. Neither prompted a reaction from the referee Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz, however, despite the protests of players from both sides.
It was not long before Madrid took the lead. Higuain opened the scoring for the visitors with a cool finish from a tight angle after being played in by the impressive Angel Di Maria.
Los Blancos began to exert more and more pressure on the Malaga back-line and added a second goal after 24 minutes. Di Maria was the provider once more, this time for Ronaldo. After being found down the right-hand side, the Argentine cut back on to his favoured left foot before whipping a tantalising ball into the area which left the Portuguese with the simplest of finishes from five yards out.
Ronaldo made it 3-0 around the half-hour mark, dancing past a couple of Malaga players before dispatching a fine low strike from the edge of the area that gave Ruben in the Malaga goal no chance.
Visiting goalkeeper Javi Varas was the star of the show as Barcelona and Sevilla played out a 0-0 draw at Camp Nou in La Liga this evening.
Barcelona dominated possession in the first half, and managed to create a few decent chances, but Sevilla goalkeeper Varas was the outstanding performer in the first half, pulling off numerous saves.

The hosts dominated much of the play in the first half but were denied by a string of fine saves from Sevilla goalkeeper Javi Varas.
Despite Barca's superiority, the visitors almost took the lead when a mix-up between Eric Abidal and Victor Valdes nearly let in Jesus Navas to score.
Liverpool were held by a resilient Norwich City side, for whom Grant Holt came off the bench to cancel out Craig Bellamy's first-half opener in a thrilling 1-1 Premier League draw at Anfield.
Kenny Dalglish named striker Bellamy for his first Premier League start since rejoining the club from Manchester City, with recovered captain Steven Gerrard
continuing in midfield. Paul Lambert kept faith with the side that beat Swansea a week previously, with Canaries skipper Holt forced to continue to settle for the bench. Finally at Liverpool, the big No9 was sent on from the bench to save his side's afternoon with the sort of powerful header in front of the Kop that would have made anyone from Tony Hateley to John Toshack proud.
\
Unfortunately for Anfield, it was not Andy Carroll. He only got on for the last 10 minutes and was just a spectator as the dramatic events unfolded. Norwich's Grant Holt, formerly of Barrow and Workington, was the second-half substitute who earned his side a notable point with his 55th goal for the club in 100 games. Liverpool could, and really should, have had the game wrapped up after creating a succession of chances, almost all of which fell to the normally deadly Luis Suárez. But the Uruguayan had an off day, while the more limited Norwich striker made the most of what little came his way.Liverpool lost ground on the top four as they were held to a draw by Norwich City at Anfield.
Kenny Dalglish's side hit the woodwork three times among several other chances but had only Craig Bellamy's late first-half goal against his former club to show for their efforts.
They were punished on the hour when Grant Holt headed home just three minutes after coming off the bench.
Wolves roared back from two goals down to share a 2-2 draw with Swansea City in a dramatic finish to their Premier League clash at Molineux.Wolves ended their
five-match losing run as late goals from Kevin Doyle and Jamie O'Hara saw them salvage a draw and alleviate some of the pressure on manager Mick McCarthy against Swansea at Molineux.

Folk music legend Pete Seeger joined in the Occupy Wall Street protest Friday night, replacing his banjo with two canes as he marched with throngs of people in New York City's tony Upper West Side past banks and shiny department stores. The 92-year-old Seeger, accompanied by musician-grandson Tao Rodriguez Seeger, composer David Amram, and bluesman Guy Davis, shouted out a verse as the crowd of about 1,000 people sang and chanted.
They marched peacefully over more than 30 blocks from Symphony Space, where the Seegers and other musicians performed, to Columbus Circle. Police watched from the sidelines.

A sensational first-half free-kick from Roman Pavlyuchenko put Tottenham top of Europa League Group A.
A much-changed Spurs side found it hard to settle against Rubin, who consistently threatened on the break.
However Russian Pavlyuchenko stunned his compatriots with an unstoppable 25-yard drive into the top corner.
Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, making only his third start of the season, made a string of fine saves to earn his side an important victory.Tottenham Hotspur have still not lost since late August, an impressive run of form that reaches back to Manchester City's 5-1 win here and which now numbers nine games with a victory that takes them to the top of their Europa League group in a competition Harry Redknapp is hardly enamoured with.
Redknapp emerged from the Luka Modric to Chelsea saga in the summer still hanging on to the Croatian playmaker and with a side he rates as stronger than the one that powered Tottenham into the Champions League for the first time two seasons ago.
The arrival of Scott Parker and Emmanuel Adebayor strengthened midfield and attack but with the Premier League title still surely beyond the club's reach Redknapp may well be wondering where his first trophy for Spurs will come from as he enters a fourth year in charge at White Hart Lane.
Libya's transitional government forces have taken full control of Sirte, the last city where Gaddafi loyalists had remained holed up, fighters and reporters say.
Soldiers hoisted the new NTC national flag on buildings in the centre of Col Muammar Gaddafi's hometown.
Unconfirmed reports quote officials as saying Col Gaddafi was captured there.
His supporters are still resisting government forces in the town of Bani Walid, south-east of Tripoli.Colonel Ahmed Bani, the military spokesman of the National Transition Council, has confirmed to Al Jazeera that Muammar Gaddafi has been killed.
Abdul Hakim Belhaj, an NTC military chief, said Gaddafi had died of his wounds after being captured near his hometown Sirte.
The body of the former Libyan leader was taken to a location which is being kept secret for security reasons, an NTC official said. His killing, which came swiftly after his capture near Sirte, is the most dramatic single development in the Arab Spring revolts that have unseated rulers in Egypt and Tunisia and threatened the grip on power of the leaders of Syria and Yemen.
"He (Gaddafi) was also hit in his head," National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta told Reuters. "There was a lot of firing against his group and he died."Slumped against the bloodied legs of a revolutionary fighter, this is the picture which Libyan rebels say confirms that deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi has been killed.
The former Libyan dictator was reportedly found cowering in a hole in the ground at the centre of Sirte, after rebels moved through the seaside town during their final assault.
Fighter Mohammed Al Bibi told reporters that the toppled tyrant had pleaded 'Don't shoot, don't shoot' as he attempted to surrender.
Bayer Leverkusen 2 - 1 Fc Valencia Highlights + Goals Champions League - Group E (19.10.11) alle tore und wiederholungen schürle mehmet topal Bayer Leverkusen scored twice in four minutes to beat Valencia 2-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday and tighten their hold on second spot in Group E.
Valencia led at the interval with a goal by Jonas but Andre Schuerrle levelled with a thundering drive in the 52nd minute and Sidney Sam snatched the winner in the 56th to secure Leverkusen's first win over a Spanish side in the last eight attempts.
The result leaves the 2002 Champions League finalists in second spot on six points, one behind leaders Chelsea who crushed Belgium's Racing Genk.Though some amateur defending allowed Jonas to give the Spaniards a narrow lead heading into the break, the home side had the heroics of goalkeeper Bernd Leno to thank for the scoreline not being greater.
And the Werkself came out for the second period a completely different outfit, turning the fixture on its head with a pair of quickfire goals from Andre Schuerrle and Sidney Sam.
The victory puts Leverkusen second in Group E behind Chelsea, who ran out 5-0 winners at home to Genk, with a four-point margin now opened up between Valencia and the German side.
The Champions League is not supposed to serve up mismatches as resounding as this. Chelsea juggled their first-team options, allowing the likes of John Terry, Juan
Mata and Didier Drogba a breather up in the stands, but still strolled to their biggest home win in this competition and hardly broke into a sweat in the process. Life among Europe's elite should never feel this comfortable.Chelsea fans turned up but the opposition did not. For all the talk of a boycott over ticket prices, the Bridge was practically full to see Chelsea record their biggest home win in the Champions League, destroying Belgian visitors who resembled not so much minnows as plankton.
This was a night to worry about the quality of some sides who dine at the top table of European football but it was also an evening to feast the eyes on the quality of some of Chelsea’s passing, moving and finishing. The Chelsea fans who formed the majority of the 38,518 crowd loved it.

There's hardly a need to guess at the design, thanks to a trigger-happy Samsung employee, who seems to have briefly published the top-secret Web page on Samsung's site hours before the event (see photo above). (P.S.: It looks like the preorder Web site will live here when Samsung publishes it.
Our hardworking team from CNET Asia in Singapore will be on-site with the rest of the news and hands-on impressions. Meanwhile, we follow along stateside with the official YouTube stream, embedded below. Join us here for all the news, and stick around CNET for plenty of finger-licking commentary.
The event kicks off tonight at 7 p.m. PT (that's 10 p.m. ET and 10 a.m. in Hong Kong).
So let's recap what went down in the world of Android yesterday.
At Motorola's New York City event, the company had two products to show. First up was MotoActv, a watch-like device that's all about fitness. It plays music to help motivate you, sure, but it also tracks your heart rate and how far you've walked, run or biked. On-board GPS will keep you from getting lost during those hikes in the woods (as well as keeping tabs on your daily routes). There's a website component (motoactv.com) to monitor your improvements and do the usual social stuff. You can add a wireless headset, too. An 8 GB model is $249 and 16 GB goes for $299.

Republican presidential hopefuls tore into former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney last night, using a Boston Herald column to blast the signature Massachusetts health-care plan he signed into law during a fiery Las Vegas showdown that offered the toughest test the top-tier candidate has faced to date.
Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich cited a column that ran in the Boston Herald yesterday as proof that Romney’s health-care reform — so-called Romneycare — is costly and flawed.GOP candidates, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, used the CNN debate as the chance to resurrect their struggling campaigns by striking hard at the one topic that former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney remains weak on: his state’s healthcare plan.
The seven (former Utah governor Jon Huntsman boycotted the debate because of Nevada pushing up it’s primary date and denying New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary status) GOP presidential hopefuls took the stage in Las Vegas hoping to gain a surge in the polls before the longest break of the debate season begins. The latest CNN poll has Gov. As one admirer put it in a July 2009 blog post, "If Gundersen's approach was used to care for the approximately 4.5 million Medicare beneficiaries who die every year, Medicare could save more than $33 billion a year."
That admirer? Newt Gingrich. The former House Speaker had close knowledge of Gundersen's approach: in 2006, the father of his wife Callista passed away at Gundersen after a battle with lung cancer. Gingrich has been open about how well the hospital handled his father-in-law's end of life care. "What they create is a family relationship in a difficult period so that the families up being very satisfied," he said in an April 2009 article in the Columbia (Mo.) Daily Tribune. "The families feel there was dignity, there was dialogue, people were collectively doing something."
